No Tubes
My mom has been moved from the ICU which is great news. We left her with a dinner from Whole Foods and CNN! The physical therapists are getting her up out of bed and are working with her to improve her mobility on her right side. She is less dizzy which is a good sign, though she still struggles with finding the words she wants to use Mom is pleased to be free of her IV's and the constant monitoring. We assume/hope, that she will be out of Alta Bates in the next 2-4 days and will most likely be moved to a rehab center. We are hoping to have more information about her timeline and recovery process in the next day or two. Angella and I are hopeful she will get a good night sleep tonight. xo alissa

Great news, Julia! We're delighted to know you have been sprung from ICU and are doing well. We miss you! Wow, that's a lot to go through in one week! Cindy
Now, dear daughter & daughter-in-law, go see a movie, have dinner somewhere cool, eat popcorn in front of the TV---just relax for a little bit. You have earned stars in heaven!
love to you---oh, yes, and love to Julia, too! marge & bill
Julia,
I've heard through the Mills grapevine (yes, it's still out there) of your medical adventure. It's clear in reading the postings you're getting great care from docs, hospital staff and your family. Glad you're in front of a TV with no tubes!!
Best wishes in your recovery - would love to visit when the time is right.
Thanks A&A for the postings.
hugs,
Susan Penrod
Dear Julie,
Get better everyday. I sent you a card in the mail. I am saying little prayers for your recovery.
Love, Barbara
Dear Julie,
We are checking in with your blog everyday. I know how intense and different these times in a hospital can be. We send intentions for your best health and wellness. Day by day you'll get better. My mom is getting a computer and will soon be typing her own blogs.
As of yesterday she is 89 and we went to the boardwalk and out to lunch on the wharf. She got all better from her hip fracture. Both of you have a sense of determination. Keep getting better!
Love, Jean and Carolyn
Dearest Julia -- First you miss the symphony with Mark and me last Thursday! and then, ever since, you've insisted your children fuss over you night and day! Seriously, dear, what with our move at work and the servers down *for days*, I was able to learn about your adventures only when Maryellen called me at home on Saturday. I immediately started sending my loving prayers for your comfort and peace of mind. It is a great relief today to study the blog and be able to send you these comments. You have gone through a very tough time. And your children -- including spouses -- have been absolutely wonderful. I send my loving thoughts and encouragement to all of you, but especially to you, Julia, whom we all admire and love so much. Be well and rest. When you're stronger I want to come for a visit. 'til then, my tender and loving thoughts are with you, -- Caitlin
Hi Julie! I'm so glad to hear that you're walking straight out of the ICU. We keep thinking about you and we're sending all our best wishes for your continued recovery. And to my wonderful cousins and cousins-in-law, you guys are amazing. I miss all of you! Now please go to Fentons and enjoy an ice cream:) Love to you all, Sara
