Two Steps Forward One Step Back

I went to see Mom Monday evening and she was feeling frustrated, tired and dizzy. She had a rough day at PT and continues to be annoyed by the constant dizziness. She was feeling so good after Gaylen's visit. Feeling like she had made really good progress toward the end of the week last week. She was starting to get a handle on her dizziness and I think was seeing the light at the end of her tunnel. Then Monday came and she felt like she had not made any progress and that the dizziness was worse again. A different kind of dizzy -- like a rolling boat but still dizzy! As we all know mom is not the most patient and she said last night she is waiting for the day that she wakes up and is not dizzy. We are all trying to remind her and encourage her to put in the hard work and stay focused on her end goal --it is those things that will help the dizziness go away. Please continue to encourage mom to do the things she knows she should be doing. Just like daughters don't listen to their mothers I am realizing that mothers don't really listen to their daughters either. I guess this is pay back. -alissa

OK- I had to laugh about the payback comment! Alissa- you weren't that bad, were you??!!

Keeping the good thoughts- I can't even begin to imagine how hard it must be to keep putting one foot in front of the other- especially when dizzy. Wishin' you the strength and perserverance to keep on keepin' on.

Julia Dearest,

This has got to be an immense drag and a complete and utter bore, but you have got to keep pushing ahead. We need you back in our lives and that can only come with tedious and hard work. I know that there must be many times when giving up feels like the logical option but don't listen to that little voice. There is a really bright future out there for you with friends, family, travel, books, good food, and floating in the pool in the sunshine. We are waiting for you but we can't take the steps; that nasty duty has been left to you alone.

Keep pushing. It is a valiant struggle but the rewards will be tremendous.

Julia: Well, it seems that you and I both have gone back to work and from what I've heard, you are doing a fabulous job! I know it can't be easy to have to push when you don't feel well with the dizzy bouts and knowing you, there's no way that will stop you from mastering every tongue twister Toronto tosses towards thee! I hear you also sling a pretty mean santoku blade there in the Herrick kitchen..surely by now, they have learned that Julia Child was not the only Julia, Gourmet Chef! We miss you, send our love, and can't wait for you to be back with us discussing how nice life will be with the Democrats back in the White House after November! Go for the Gold!
Love, Cindy and JaNell

Julie, Keep up the good and hard work. You will be able to write a book about your experiences, rare as they are. Alice

Julia:

Sending you my heartfelt best wishes and prayers from New York and so glad to hear you're making progress. Keep laughing and know that you are loved. I'm hoping we can connect when I'm in SF in early October. Would be great to see you! Thinking of you...

All my love,
Lance

Julia,

I am in Montana in Bozeman finishing up several days at Montana State. It is so beautiful here and I could not help but think of you and your trip to Montana with the boys last summer.

I hope that the last couple of days have been better for you. Brian and I would love to come back to this beautiful place with you soon. Keep at it.

dDear Julia. I've been following your progress every day. John is the scribe in the family and I know that he has included my thoughts in all his correspondence. I wanted to know if you might want a visitor (ME!) next week, maybe Tuesday afternoon? Please let me know if that will work.

My mom has been following your progress and I wanted to send along Alfreda's best wishes for a speedy recovery. Her neurologist made her to the "buttercup" exercise at one point, too!

We're busy with the harvest up in Geyserville and wish you were there with us to help out. But, we'll have plenty of goodies from the garden to share with you soon.

I'm sure that the rehab is pretty hard work and it must be frustrating at times, but please give it your all, it will be worth it, OK.

Love, Brian
